In math mode you solve arithmetic problems and see straight away whether you were right. It is especially good for automating mental arithmetic and the times tables to the point where they come without thinking.

How a round works

You are given arithmetic problems one after another. You type the number on the keypad right where the question mark is – even when it sits in the middle of the problem, as in ? + 7 = 19. The tick checks your answer:

Correct – the field turns green and the next problem follows.
Wrong – your number is crossed out in red, with the correct answer next to it.

The bars below the problem show how many problems are left in the round and which ones you solved correctly or incorrectly. At the end of the round you see your summary.

Types of calculation

These areas are available:

Times tables – the multiplication tables, one row at a time
Division – divide problems
Addition – plus problems, including ones with a missing term
Units – converting, for example between metres and kilometres
Mix – chains of plus and minus problems

This lets you practise exactly what is currently being covered at school, instead of always getting everything mixed together. Each area shows how many levels you have played and which mastery title you have reached there.

Levels

Each area consists of several levels, such as “0 to 20” for addition or single rows of the times tables. That way you work your way up from small problems for getting started to ones that make even practised players pause for a moment.

Tips for practising

Better a short round every day than one long session per week – that is exactly what the daily challenge and the streak are there for.
Start with a level you can manage confidently, and only then step it up. Accuracy before speed.
If you keep making mistakes with one operation, practise it on its own rather than playing all types mixed together.
