What the app can do

This app lets you record your blood sugar – in a way that shows you where your readings come from. For every reading you capture a value before and a value after, each with its own time; the app calculates the increase. What makes it special: you link the reading to what you ate. You create foods with a photo and a description and sort them into categories of your own.

The more readings a food accumulates, the clearer the picture gets: the app shows you the average value, the average increase, the last increase as well as the minimum and maximum. Over time you can see what your body responds to and how – for individual foods just as much as for a whole meal. Besides the readings, you document your examinations: HbA1c, blood pressure and weight. The home dashboard pulls it all together, and you decide which cards you want to see there.

The app is free. The Pro version is a one-time purchase that unlocks the backup and the advanced filters in the search – everything else works without buying anything.

  • First release on Google Play.
  • New since the testing phase: an unencrypted CSV export of all your data for your own analysis, plus “Delete all data” in the settings.

Permissions

  • No sensitive permissions: no location, no contacts, no internet access – the app is technically unable to transmit your data.
  • Photos: pictures are taken through your device's camera app, the app itself holds no camera permission. The images stay encrypted in its private storage.
  • In-app billing: declared by the Google Play library and only needed to buy the Pro version – it triggers no prompt and transmits none of your data.

BloodSugar helps you record, manage and keep an eye on your values. It is not a medical device and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It gives no therapy recommendations and does not calculate insulin doses. If you have questions about your health, please talk to your doctor.

Blood sugar readings are health data, and we treat them accordingly: they stay on your device, where both the database and the photos are encrypted. There is no user account, no advertising and no automatic cloud backup – you create the backup file yourself and keep it wherever you want.
