Import from KeePass

Import from KeePass
Under Settings → KeePass you read a KeePass file. First you see what it
contains – entries, groups, attachments, custom fields and how many entries would get no tag. Only
then do you decide with Import into the vault.
- Your KeePass file is only read, never changed.
- Groups become tags; KeePass tags are added.
- The import only adds: it replaces and deletes nothing. Running the same file a second time
changes nothing.
- Anything that could not be imported (such as an attachment over 1 MiB) is listed by name under
Not imported.
- KeePass's history (the old versions of an entry) comes along and is kept in the vault.
You find it in the entry's view (History).
Which KeePass files
- Format: KDBX 3.1 and KDBX 4 (4.0 and 4.1) – written by KeePass 2.x, KeePassXC, KeePassDX
and KeePass2Android.
- Key derivation: AES-KDF, Argon2d or Argon2id.
- Encryption: AES-256 or ChaCha20.
- Not readable: Twofish and files from KeePass 1 (.kdb). For Twofish, switch the file
to AES or ChaCha20 in KeePass's database settings and save it again.
- Master password only: a file that also needs a key file cannot be opened.
